I had no problems so far, considering buying again a new model Although the cargo capacity is not great when carrying six people it is still enough for a week end. There are cargo bins under the second-row seats and a covered tray behind the rears, but precious little room behind those third-row seats with their backs up. Vehicle controls are sensibly arranged and all-around visibility is good. Both side sliding doors move easily and smoothly which is a godsend to older passengers. I love the roominess, and sporty handling. So is surely facing into a headwind by bringing to our vast land a minivan that is truly mini. The Mazda was designed and built in Japan, Volvo Sweden, etc. If you are simply looking for a car the drives well and is reasonably reliable at a fair price, the Mazda is certainly something you should look at.
Also I have had the front bushings replaced squeaking and now need the rear bushings replaced squeaking at 90,000 km. I use it more like a 4 seater than a people carrier and even have had some fun with it out on some well known racetracks. Back seats fold down for nice roomy trunk. Road noise is not especially intrusive, no more so, certainly, than in the Ford Freestyle. In my opinion, Honda's Odyssey has been the sportiest looking minivan on the market since it was redesigned for 2005, but I think the Mazda5 is sportier yet.
